The Art of Tattooing: An Artist's Perspective
Thursday, October 29
6:30pm - 8:00pm
Have you ever wondered how tattoos become a permanent part of our skin? Join professional tattoo artist Suz Pittenger for an exploration of the art, science, and craftsmanship behind tattooing.
Learn about the history of tattooing, how tattoo machines work, tattoo healing and aftercare advice, the impact of AI on the industry, and more. The presentation will conclude with an audience Q&A.
Suz began her professional tattooing career in 2011 and was the owner of an award-winning tattoo studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She now co-owns Black Dahlia Tattoo in Albany, New York, with her husband, Jay. Deeply inspired by the local landscapes of the Hudson Valley and the Adirondacks, her favorite tattoo subjects range from lush regional flora to intricate blackwork, geometric mandalas, and memento mori motifs like bones and weathered skeletons.
