Yes, you can do yoga from a chair! Yoga is simply joining movement to breath. In chair yoga, postures are adapted through creative use of a chair as a support. With the help of a chair anyone can practice yoga. Regular chair yoga practice can increase range of motion, build strength and flexibility, and improve balance, coordination, and mobility. The practice also can help develop more effective response to stress and improve concentration.
These live classes on Zoom offer students a safe opportunity to tune into their body in a compassionate and mindful way, learning to accept exactly what they find. Participants are encouraged to move within their comfort level and to listen to their body, allowing awareness of the body to develop.
This online program uses the Zoom live streaming platform. It will require access to a computer, mobile device with the Zoom app installed, and/or a phone for audio-only access. A short video on joining a Zoom meeting can be found here.
