Join us for a 40-minute screening of clips from The U.S. and the Holocaust, a new documentary by Ken Burns, Lynn Novick, and Sarah Botstein. The screening will be immediately followed by a discussion.
The U.S. and the Holocaust is a three-part, six hour series that examines America’s response to one of the greatest humanitarian crises of the twentieth century. Inspired in part by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s “Americans and the Holocaust” exhibition and supported by its historical resources, the mini-series examines the rise of Hitler and Nazism in Germany in the context of global antisemitism and racism, the eugenics movement in the United States, and race laws in the American south.
Please visit the Library to view our accompanying exhibit (through January 26) from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum titled American Responses.
